BYD Teams Up with Analog Devices to Elevate In-Cabin Audio Experience
Chinese automaker BYD has chosen Analog Devices’ A2B automotive audio bus and Sharc digital signal processor (DSP) to develop more energy-efficient and eco-friendly vehicle platforms while also boosting the audio entertainment experience for drivers.
These audio bus and DSP technologies will improve the performance of BYD’s in-car entertainment systems. This means drivers will have a better experience, and the design process will be simpler and less expensive. Plus, these technologies contribute to better fuel and battery efficiency.
“BYD is a very respected and innovative car manufacturer,” said Mark Gill, a vice president at Analog Devices. “By using our A2B and Sharc processor technologies, BYD can offer its customers more energy-efficient vehicles with top-notch audio quality.”
Car manufacturers today face the challenge of reducing vehicle weight, cost, and design complexity. BYD chose the A2B technology because it can transmit audio, control data, clock, and power through a single, unshielded twisted-pair wire. This cuts down on cabling weight by up to 75%, leading to better fuel efficiency and lower overall system costs.
BYD also picked the Sharc processor to create more affordable audio systems that still deliver great sound quality.
