Bosch and Ultrahaptics Unveil Revolutionary Haptic Technology at CES

At this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Bosch and Ultrahaptics showcased a new mid-air haptic technology in a concept car. This touch-free technology enhances gesture controls, improving Bosch’s infotainment system by providing a more intuitive human–machine interface. It gives drivers clear feedback when their hand gestures are recognized, offering an immediate tactile response to their commands.

This innovation makes driving safer. Drivers won’t accidentally cancel commands or need to divert their eyes from the road to check the display. The technology works by using ultrasound to create haptic feedback directly on the driver’s hands, eliminating the need for special equipment. This allows for easier control of in-car audio and other connected-car features.

Steve Cliffe, the CEO of Ultrahaptics, expressed his excitement about the growing use of their technology. “The Bosch application at CES highlights how touchless gesture recognition can help car makers achieve greater market acceptance for gesture control systems,” he said.
