High-Performance 80V Digital Transistors by Nexperia: Perfect for 48V Circuitry
Nexperia has introduced an 80V resistor-equipped transistors (RETs) family built for 48V automotive boards, which are commonly found in mild hybrid and electric vehicles. These new RETs can handle higher voltage circuits and withstand large spikes and pulses, unlike older 50V parts.
One of the major advantages of these RETs is that they combine the bias resistor and bias-emitter resistor within the same package as the transistor. This integration helps save space and cut down manufacturing costs. The RETs come in different packages: the sot-23 with 250mW power, the sot-323 with 235mW power, and for those needing dual RETs (two transistors along with matching resistors), the sot-363 package with 350mW power is available.
The NHDTx and NHUMx series offer 42 different parts with both pnp and npn transistor combinations and retain the same bias resistor configurations as the earlier 50V models. These devices support a current capability of 100mA and are AEC-Q101-approved, ensuring they meet automotive industry standards.
Frank Matschullat, a product group manager at Nexperia, mentioned that these new RETs help design engineers future-proof their systems for evolving electric vehicle (EV) applications. Using Nexperia’s RETs can simplify circuit design, save PCB space, reduce pick-and-place time, and boost reliability. Besides automotive circuits, these high voltage devices will also benefit general-purpose switching, amplification, and other digital systems.
The 80V RETs are available in sot-23, sot-323, and sot-363 packages and are ready for immediate use.
