Ubotica Unveils Groundbreaking Space:AI Technology for MESEO Earth Observation Initiative

Ubotica, a space AI specialist from Ireland, is involved in the MESEO project, which aims to create a flexible and scalable system for processing large volumes of Earth Observation data.

MESEO is supported by Horizon Europe as part of the EU’s efforts to improve the use of Earth Observation data. The project runs from December 1, 2023, to November 30, 2026.

The main goal of MESEO is to manage the vast amounts of data coming from multiple satellites and make it accessible to various end users. These users include sectors like environmental monitoring, defense, security, logistics, food production, and insurance.

Ubotica is part of a consortium for this project, which also includes companies and institutions like Airbus, Resolvo (Italy), Satlantis (Spain), Sistema (France), the University of Ferrara (Italy), Creotech Instruments (Poland), and Sovity (Germany). The project is led by GMV, a technology firm.

Ubotica’s role involves leveraging its expertise in AI combined with Computer Vision for EdgeAI. They will use their custom Neural Networks to tackle Earth Observation challenges on spacecraft. Specifically, Ubotica will handle the development and deployment of AI-driven image triaging and in-line processing. Their Space:AI system will ensure only the most important Earth Observation data is prioritized and transmitted for immediate analysis or action.

Dr. Aubrey Dunne, Co-Founder and CTO at Ubotica, expressed enthusiasm about their involvement, saying, “We are excited to contribute to MESEO’s ambitious objectives and look forward to the innovative advancements this partnership will bring to the space industry. Our AI-driven solutions are set to revolutionize on-board data processing, enhancing overall efficiency and effectiveness. The MESEO system will greatly benefit from these integrated solutions.”
