Could Robotic Patent Wars Finally See a Truce?
The battle over robotic patents is still ongoing, but conflicts don’t always need to go to court. Alexander Ford from Withers & Rogers sheds light on this following the recent Ocado and AutoStore agreement.
After a three-year legal fight about patent infringement, Ocado and the Norwegian robotic tech company AutoStore have settled their dispute outside of court. This resolution indicates that the broader issue of robot patents remains unresolved.
Details of the agreement are mostly confidential, but it’s known that AutoStore will pay Ocado £200 million in instalments. This payment is likely compensation for using Ocado’s patented technologies for commercial purposes.
