Alpine F1 Embraces KX Insights for Instant Decision-Making

The Alpine F1 team has entered a global agreement to use KX Insights, a cutting-edge real-time streaming analytics platform that operates on Microsoft Azure.

Building on their existing partnership, this deal enhances Alpine F1’s real-time decision-making abilities, helping them develop a continuous stream of actionable business intelligence. This is crucial in a sport where victory can be the result of split-second decisions. Over the past 18 months, KX has served as Alpine F1’s go-to data science platform, enabling the team to preempt issues and seize performance opportunities almost instantly. Transitioning to KX Insights is expected to propel the team even further.

Dan Seal, Senior Vice President at KX, emphasized that their platform’s high-performance analytics capability is ideal for Alpine F1, offering flexible and cost-effective access to both real-time and historical data. KX Insights simplifies access to data from across the organization, regardless of its source or format, thanks to its hybrid cloud architecture.

Mike Downey, Tech Lead for Sports at Microsoft, also highlighted that the agility of Azure’s cloud infrastructure is crucial for processing the billions of data points captured both on and off the race track. This enables real-time, data-driven decision making, which is essential in a sport where every second is critical.

KX Insights benefits from Azure’s cloud-native services, including support for Kubernetes and cost-effective storage options like Azure Blob Storage. This setup promises lower infrastructure and maintenance costs compared to traditional deployments. Running on kdb+, one of the fastest time-series databases, the platform is easy to configure and can be operational within minutes.

Nathan Sykes, a director at Alpine F1, remarked that KX Insights would allow them to fully leverage Azure’s cloud infrastructure. They can easily scale their operations, integrate new data streams effortlessly, and utilize powerful KX tools for rapid data processing and visualization. This setup provides deeper insights and improves the complexity and accuracy of their models.

KX is part of FD Technologies, a group aimed at delivering real-time, continuous intelligence. Specializing in high-volume, data-intensive analytics, KX’s platform is widely used across various industries. FD Technologies operates from 15 offices in Europe, North America, and Asia Pacific, with a workforce of over 2,500 employees globally.
