Innoviz Unveils Cutting-Edge MEMS-Based Scanning Lidar at CES

Innoviz Technologies revealed their new product, InnovizPro, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. InnovizPro is a cutting-edge, solid-state, mems-based scanning lidar. Winning the CES Innovation Award for vehicle intelligence and self-driving technology, InnovizPro offers advanced 3D sensing at a much lower cost compared to other options. It’s claimed to be the only lidar that meets all the demands of the automotive industry in terms of performance, reliability, affordability, size, and maturity.

InnovizPro is now available for purchase, providing automotive partners the tools to develop future autonomous driving programs. This availability also allows Innoviz to explore new markets such as industrial automation, security, surveillance, and logistics.

Key features of InnovizPro include a high frame rate, excellent angular resolution, and a wide field of view, enabling it to produce a detailed 3D point cloud with great accuracy. Its long detection range of up to 150 meters ensures clarity over distance. These capabilities allow it to perform reliably in various lighting conditions, be it darkness, bright sunlight, or quickly changing weather, and even when vehicles are moving at highway speeds. The design also offers fine-tuning features for specific areas and ensures it is resilient to sunlight.

“InnovizPro makes our advanced lidar technology immediately accessible, significantly advancing the autonomous vehicle market,” said Omer Keilaf, CEO of Innoviz. “We’re addressing the pressing need for high-resolution scanning technology that’s also cost-effective, with no minimum order requirement. While we’re dedicated to developing our automotive-grade lidar, InnovizOne, our partners can start using InnovizPro now to take advantage of the leading lidar technology available.”

Established in early 2016 with $82 million in funding, Innoviz is among the first lidar manufacturers to bring a complete product to market. With over 110 employees globally, Innoviz has secured strategic partnerships to produce and integrate its lidar systems into the autonomous vehicles of leading market suppliers like Aptiv (formerly Delphi Automotive) and Magna.

Looking ahead, Innoviz plans to enhance its scanning technology further with InnovizOne, designed for levels three to five autonomous driving. InnovizOne will meet higher standards in performance, reliability, size, and cost. Samples of InnovizOne are expected to be available in 2019.

Both live demonstrations of InnovizPro and samples of InnovizOne are showcased at CES. Innoviz’s lidar technology can also be found at the booths of partners like Valens, Samsung, and Osram, and the product samples are featured with Magna and Jabil at the Innovation Awards Showcase in the Venetian Ballroom.

Innoviz will also be showcasing their technology next week at Automotive World in Tokyo.
