Murata MLCCs Perfectly Crafted for In-Vehicle ADAS Systems

Murata has launched a thin, low equivalent series inductor (ESL) multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) specifically designed for 4V EC-rated automotive applications. This MLCC, labeled LLC152D70G105ME01, has a capacitance value of 1.0µF ±20% and boasts a compact size with a footprint of 0.5 by 1.0mm and a thickness of just 0.22mm.

This decoupling capacitor is versatile and can be placed on the backside of a processor package, which helps to reduce the impedance of the power supply line. Alternatively, it can also be positioned close to the main processor on the motherboard.

What sets this MLCC apart from standard ones is the LW reverse construction. This means the electrodes are flipped 90 degrees to be on the long side of the rectangular chip. This orientation change enhances noise suppression, especially in high-frequency applications.

As advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) continue to evolve to improve safety and move towards self-driving cars, the demand for high-performance integrated circuits (ICs) in vehicles has surged. To ensure these ICs operate smoothly, there’s a growing emphasis on reducing the impedance of power supply lines.

Murata’s proprietary thin-layer technology and thin-sheet formation techniques make these MLCCs particularly effective for achieving low-impedance designs, thereby stabilizing the performance of high-end ICs.
